VIA was founded by Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam in Manakadavu, near Pollachi, approved by Govt. of Tamil Nadu and its B.Sc.(Hons) Agriculture programme has been accredited by the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board (NAEAB) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. VIA is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore.
VIA aims at empowering youth as agricultural professionals who can uplift rural development through quality education, profound research and extension activities involving the farming community. We offer two programmes in agriculture; 4-year Bachelor Degree programme and 2-year Diploma programme. The medium of instruction is English.
UG Courses Offered
Course Name : B.Sc Hons ( Agriculture )
Duration : 4 – Years
Course Objective
B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture involves study of agriculture sciences and use of modern scientific equipment and techniques in agriculture, land surveying, soil science, water resource management, animal and poultry management, basics of biotechnology etc. The objective of the course is to use these concepts to train students to improve agricultural productivity.
Course Structure
Agricultural education is a broad term which includes disciplines of Agriculture (Agronomy), Veterinary Science, Forestry, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science etc
The B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture degree in India is typically a 4-year course under credit based semester system. The program also includes a compulsory 1 semester of internship (Rural Agricultural Work Experience). Most of the courses are infused with practical with emphasis on ‘hands on experience and learning by doing’.
Admission Procedure
Eligibility – A pass in higher secondary course or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to and fulfilling the following subjects of study.

Diploma Programme
Course Name : Diploma in Agriculture
Duration : 2 – Years

Course Objective
In this article, we will have an in-depth analysis of Diploma in Agriculture course. It is a job oriented Diploma course.
Course Structure
Diploma in Agriculture course can be pursued by students who have completed 12th standard Science or Vocational agriculture group. It is a 2 years long academic program. Each academic year is usually divided into two semesters
Strength – Diploma in Agriculture – 50 students
Admission Procedure
For both the courses 65% strength will be admitted through TNAU Single Window System and remaining 35% by the management adopting the eligible requirements.
