Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore is one of the constituent colleges of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. This is the first college started in South India for offering Agricultural Engineering degree programme and the first batch of students were admitted in July, 1972. The college is having six departments namely Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Food Process Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Physical Sciences and Information Technology and Centre for Post Harvest Technology.
Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore is offering four year degree programs in B.Tech. (Food Technology), B.Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering), B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering), Masters’ and Doctoral degree in the fields of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Processing and Food Engineering and Soil and Water Conservation Engineering.

The application of engineering in agriculture is mandatory for complete mechanization of agricultural farms. This programme provides the students with both theoretical and practical knowledge on engineering applications in agriculture. The curriculum involves courses in basic agriculture, basic engineering, soil and water conservation, farm machinery and power, food processing and renewable energy. The students can be able to shine in all fields and also the programme helps the students to transform themselves as a young entrepreneur. Also Tamil Nadu Agricultural University offers B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) with a curriculum designed particularly to cope up with industrial needs, with a view to mould the student’s job oriented and get better placements after graduation.
