Science Programs

The following seven undergraduate degree programs, namely, B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture (English and Tamil medium), B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture (English and Tamil medium), B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry, B.Sc. (Hons.) Sericulture, B.Sc. (Hons.) Food, Nutrition and Dietetics and B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) at AEC&RI, Kumulur are treated as Agricultural Science programs for the purpose of fee.

Technology Programs

The following four undergraduate degree programs, namely, B.Tech. (Food Technology), B.Tech. (Biotechnology), B.Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering), B.Sc. (Hons.) Agri Business Management) and B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) at AEC&RI, Coimbatore are treated as Agricultural Technology programs for the purpose of fees.

Fee for Affiliated Management Colleges

Candidates admitted through counseling and management quota in the Affiliated colleges (except College of Agricultural Technology, Theni* and Krishna college of agriculture and technology, Usilampatti*) have to pay an all-inclusive, annual tuition Fee of Rs. 50,000/– as fixed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The candidates admitted in the College of Agricultural Technology, Theni* and Krishna college of agriculture and technology, Usilampatti* through Government quota have to pay an all-inclusive, annual tuition Fee of Rs. 40,000/. The candidates admitted under management quota have to pay an all-inclusive, annual tuition Fee of Rs. 70,000/-.

Refund of Fee

Students discontinuing the program before registration are eligible to get full refund of Semester fee. Those who discontinue after registration are eligible to get refund of only caution money deposit from respective campuses.

TOTAL FEES TO BE PAID AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION IN CONSTITUENT COLLEGES

 

SCHOLARSHIPS

Fee concessions and scholarships such as Adi Dravidar welfare scholarships, Central Government scholarships, State Government free education for student from non-graduate family, Periyar Endowment scholarships and fellowships and scholarships from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and other agencies are available for the benefit of deserving enrolled candidates. These may vary according to the degree / college to which candidates are admitted and respective funding agencies.

FACILITIES AND RESTRICTIONS
  • Campus transfer is not permissible.
  • Separate hostels for men and women are available in each campus with WiFi Internet connectivity. Specified uniform is mandatory for classes / field / lab work.
  • Students run messes on a dividing system basis.
  • All students are expected to reside in the hostel attached to the respective colleges. In exceptional cases, the Dean is empowered to permit students to be day-scholars.
  • A Students’ Centre with canteen is available in each campus to provide stationery and essential items.
  • Infrastructure facilities exist in all colleges for extra-curricular activities.
  • Library and sports facilities are available in all campuses.
  • Students are not allowed to own and drive motorcycles / car in the campus failing which the students will not be given hostel accommodation. Parking vehicles elsewhere in the campus and usage is also equally punishable.
  • Mobile phones are banned in the classroom.

The candidates has to fill their choice of degree program and college at the time of online application filling based on which admission will be allotted.

ONLINE COUNSELING
  1. Selection process for general reservation candidates is done only through online counseling.
  2. During online counseling, the candidates will be allotted the Degree and College, based on their rank, community, and choice preferences made by them at time of application filling, as per the procedure.
  3. Online counseling system will be followed for all Degree programs.
  4. After the release of rank list, candidates shortlisted will be informed through SMS and e-mail. The ratio of ‘number of vacant seats (seats to be filled)’: ‘number of candidates shortlisted for counseling’ will be normally 1:5. CALLING FOR ONLINE COUNSELING DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SEAT.
  5. Shortlisted candidates must pay a non-refundable counseling fee of Rs.3000/- (Rs. 1500/- for SC / SCA / ST categories) through their individual login credentials (www.tnau.ucanapply.com). Those who fail to pay counseling fee will not be considered for online counseling.
  6. During online counseling, the candidate is permitted to change the order of preference for Degree and College ONLY ONCE. An SMS and e-mail will be sent to the candidates in this regard. No modification is possible in subsequent counseling / sliding sessions. If no modification is done, in the choice of College and Degree program, the preferences exercised while filing the application will be considered for seat allotment.
  7. On expiry of online counseling date of the respective phase, the degree and college allotment will be done based on the choice exercised by the candidate, merit and communal reservations. The allotment will be informed to the candidates through SMS and e-mail. The detailed instructions on Admission fee payment, downloading of Allotment letter and documents required for verification will be informed through registered email.
  8. The candidates registered (Counseling fee paid) for online counseling and did not get any seat allotment, will be considered for subsequent sliding process, if vacancy arises.
  9. After the online counseling, candidates will be called for certificate / document verification. After certificate / document verification, the candidates have to submit their original certificates to confirm their seat allotted to them.
  10. Before appearing for certificate verification, the candidates are required to pay an amount of Rs. 20,000/- towards admission fee by online mode before coming for certificate / document verification at TNAU, Coimbatore. Only on successful payment of admission fee, the allotment letter can be downloaded. This amount will be adjusted in their first semester fee. Paying the admission fee does not guarantee the confirmation of seat. Confirmation will be done only after the verification of certificates / documents. Provisional admission card will be issued after successful verification.
  11. The admission fee (Rs.20,000/-) is REFUNDABLE if the candidate has not registered the first semester of the degree program.
  12. If any information (Marks and qualification, Community, Date of Birth, Nativity etc.,) is found incorrect, the candidature will summarily be rejected. Delay or absence for submission of certificates / documents and payment of fees will result in cancellation of seat.
  13. Separate IN-PERSON counseling will be conducted at TNAU Coimbatore for special reservations (Differently abled, Eminent Sportsperson, Ex-servicemen, NRI, and Industrial Sponsorship quotas).
  14. Candidates of Tamil Nadu nativity, who have applied for any one of the special reservations, are also eligible for general counseling.
Sliding System
  • When vacancy arises, based on the choice exercised and willingness expressed for sliding, at the time of document verification, candidates will be moved to their best preferred upward choice of Degree and College based on merit and communal reservation.
  • Sliding system will be followed for all counseling based on vacancy.

OFFLINE COUNSELING

Offline counseling will be conducted for Special reservations (Differently abled, Eminent Sportsperson, and Ex-servicemen), NRI, and Industrial Sponsorship quota. Offline Counseling for Differently abled, Eminent Sportsperson, and Ex-servicemen will be conducted ahead of general counseling. Counseling for NRI and Industrial Quota will be conducted after one or two phases of general counseling.

Candidates attending special reservation counseling have to bring the necessary original document / certificate pertaining to their special reservation. If necessary valid / original documents are not produced by the candidates during the counseling, they will not be allowed to attend the counseling process.

Offline Counseling Process

Candidates can choose the Degree and College, based on their rank during OFFLINE counseling. Attendance of candidates will be marked both at the entry and exit. Candidates have to opt for a degree and college available at the time of counseling. DEGREE AND COLLEGE CHOICE ONCE MADE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE CHANGED. Sliding options will be obtained in paper form during the counseling. Candidates who have attended counseling and did not select any choice will be not considered for future counseling phase in the
academic year. CALLING FOR COUNSELING DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SEAT. TA and DA will not be given for attending counseling.

Candidates who fail to attend the counseling at the specified date and time will forfeit their right to admission. However, due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counseling on the specified date and time, the candidate can authorize their parent / guardian on their behalf and the parent’s /guardian’s decision will be binding and final. Such authorization letter should bear photographs of the candidate and authorized person (candidate’s parent / guardian) and signed by both the candidate and authorized person. The authorized person attending the counseling on behalf of the candidate should carry the counseling letter and photo ID proof.

SPOT ADMISSION

As per the directions of the Hon’ble Justice Prabha Sridevan Committee (G.O.Ms.No.3 Agriculture (AU) Dept. dated 07.01.2020), Spot Admission will be conducted for the vacant seats of affiliated colleges after opening of the colleges. Spot admission is an offline counseling process. Spot admission is applicable only for affiliated colleges. The vacancy in the constituent colleges will be kept vacant. No sliding will be followed. For spot admission counselling fee will be collected only from the candidates who avail seat. After selection the candidate must pay the counseling fee as prescribed above.

The announcement of Spot admission will be done ten days before the closure of admission. The vacancy position, college wise and community wise will be published in the TNAU website on that day and also given as press release for larger reach. Candidates will be called in the ratio of 1: 10 or more depending on the situation. Applied candidates who have not attended the counseling earlier or those have called for the spot admission can attend the counseling. TA and DA will not be given for attending counseling. Spot admission will be conducted on the 5th day from the date of announcement. Attendance will be marked and ranking of attended candidates will be done. Candidates will be called based on their rank for choosing the college and seat.

Selected candidates must join in the college immediately by submitting the educational certificates and by paying an admission fee of Rs. 20,000 which will be facilitated in the university campus itself on the day of spot admission. Calling for Spot Admission does not necessarily GUARANTEE a seat. No candidate will be admitted after the announcement of “Completion of Admission” for the academic year.

Any management seat fallen vacant due to migration of students from management quota seat to counseling quota, the management is at liberty to fill up such vacancies within five days of closure of TNAU admission.

Educational Qualifications – Academic Stream

Candidates should have passed ALL the subjects in Academic stream of the Qualifying Examination with 10+2 years of schooling under Board of Higher Secondary Education of Government of Tamil Nadu / Central Board of Secondary Education / Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations / other State Government Boards / other International Boards that are recognized are eligible (based on the subject eligibility) for the following degree programs:

Ranking Procedure

The calculation of aggregate is based on the marks obtained by the candidate and not the grades. The candidate has to upload the mark sheet (in percentage) given by the appropriate authority. Grace marks awarded will not be counted for calculating aggregate mark and for ranking.

Higher Secondary Course (HSC) – Vocational Stream

(Agricultural Engineering) at AEC&RI, Kumulur programs in TNAU Constituent and affiliated colleges (B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture (English medium) and Horticulture (English medium)), are exclusively reserved for candidates who have qualified under Vocational Stream and therefore they shall not be considered under general quota and any other special reservation categories. In this category both vertical and horizontal reservation policy will be adopted. The students who have studied the following Vocational group during their XII standard are only eligible for the degree programs indicated below:

  1. Candidates who passed Higher Secondary Course (HSC) under Vocational stream and studied Biology and Agricultural Practices as vocational subjects including theory and practical are eligible to apply for the degrees, viz., B.Sc. NOTE – Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Course (HSC) under Vocational stream from other boards / other states are NOT ELIGIBLE for admission in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

Age Limit

Candidates should not have completed the age of 21 years on the first day of July of the admission year (i.e. as on 01.07.2024). However, for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Caste-Arunthathiyars (SCA) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) there is NO AGE LIMIT. Five years of age relaxation will be given for differently abled candidates.

Nativity

Candidates of Tamil Nadu Nativity only will be considered for general counseling. However, candidates who have studied 10th , 11th & 12th Standards in Tamil Nadu will be considered for admission, on producing proof of having studied 10th, 11th & 12th Standards in Schools located at Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu candidates who have not studied 10th, 11th & 12th standards in Tamil Nadu should produce the Certificate of Permanent Residence in Tamil Nadu in the prescribed proforma (Appendix VI) issued by the competent authorities. Candidates possessing community certificate issued by Government of Tamil Nadu need not submit Appendix VI.

Discontinuing from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU)

A student of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University who discontinues an undergraduate degree program is not eligible for admission again to any undergraduate programs of this University. Further if the candidate discontinues after the completion of first year first semester, he/she must pay DISCONTINUATION FEE of Rupees TWO LAKHS (Rupees 2,00,000/- Only) to TNAU. This condition is applicable for all the students of constituent colleges and the students joined in affiliated colleges through TNAU counseling quota. This condition is not applicable for the students admitted under the Management Quota in Affiliated colleges.

Special Reservations 

Differently Abled –   Five percent of the seats are reserved for differently abled candidates. The applicant
should fulfill all qualifying requirements. However, the maximum age limit is relaxed to 26years.

Ex-servicemen – One seat for each of the degree program in all constituent colleges is reserved for Son and Daughter of Ex-servicemen. This quota is not available for self-supporting courses.

Eminent Sportsperson – One seat for each of the degree program in all constituent colleges are reserved for eminent sportsperson. This quota is not available for self-supporting courses.

State Government School Quota

Seven and half per cent (7.5%) of seats on “preferential basis” are reserved for students from State government schools in admission to all undergraduate courses both in constituent and affiliated colleges of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. These students (academic and vocational stream) should have studied from Class 6 to 12 in the State government schools in Tamil Nadu. Candidates who seek admission under this quota should furnish his/her EMIS number at the time of filling online application. The eligibility of admission under this quota will be verified based on the EMIS number. Therefore, TNAU will not hold responsibility for the mistakes made in the EMIS by the candidates at the time of application filling. The candidates who do not have an EMIS number should obtain and upload a bona fide certificate in the prescribed format provided in Annexure VIII.
