Imayam Institute of Agriculture and Technology (IIAT) was affiliated to TamilNadu Agricultural University (TNAU) which is a premier and pioneer institute in agricultural education, research and extension. Library

The library is equipped with all the essential books required for under graduate teaching. More than 4,000 text and reference books are available. Reprographic facilities (printer, scanners, and copier machines) are also available for the benefit of the students.

Hostel

Girls hostel is also provided with separate cot, bed, bookshelf table, chair and good lighting facility. A common R.O water plant is provided to supply safe drinking water . All the girl students are well accommodated in the available rooms. The mess is equipped with modern cooking equipment and the foods are cooked hygienically and served in a clean environment. The hostel is located around 150 meters away from college and is easily reachable.. The girl students in the hostel are taken care of by two women Residential Tutors in the cadre of Assistant Professors. Every day study hours with duration of one and a half hours is observed.

The library is opened from Monday to Friday 8.15 am to 6.00 pm (Saturday 8.15 am to 2.00pm except 2nd Saturday) and closed on all Sundays and Government holidays. Hostel Facilities

The University main campus has separate hostels for boys and girls with requisite infra-structural facilities. Future Career

Graduates can be employed in the agro-based industries dealing seeds, fertilizer, pesticide, farm implements and equipments and food processing. The graduates are also employed in research institutes, Agri-Clinics, weather and price forecasting and other consultancy sectors. They can also become agri-entrepreneurs.

Facilities

The campus is involved in imparting agricultural education and extension. All the requisite infrastructure necessary to provide a wholistic education is available as 16 labs including B class meteorological observatory, stadium, generator 125KVA along with well paved roads that are adequately lit using LED lamps and HiMast light.

Computer lab with internet facility and Language Lab Software has also been installed in the computers for improving the English Knowledge of the students. Laboratory facilities for different discipline are being established for elevating the students with lots of practical sessions.

Crop Cafetaria with various crops has been established in the college farm for disclosing hands-on information on various crops. Internet facility is being utilised by the students for various aspects like seminar presentations, assignment writings and to explore additional information about their subjects.

Well established gym and sports facilities are available in this campus for strengthening the physical calibre of the students. Separate courts like volley ball, football, shuttle, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Cricket, flood lit baseket ball courts separately for women and men and Field tracks have been established for improving the individual skill and capacities of the students in various events.

Indoor games like chess, carom, table tennis are also available for improving the mental ability of the students.

The library is equipped with 3450 number of reference books and CD’s in various topics.

Separate hostels for boys to house 200nos. and girls to house 300nos. have been established that have generator facilities (65KVA) along with gym, dining hall, dormitories, play area, cycle stand, RO water treatment plant and washing area with washing machine.

Roever Agriculture College is an educational institution run by the St. John Sangam Trust. Thanthai Roever Institute of Agriculture and Rural Development (TRIARD), one of the Roever Group of Educational Institution was started to offer courses in Diploma in Agriculture during the year 1994, later Diploma in Horticulture was started during 2001 and B.Sc.(Agri) degree course in 2008.

Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College, the first self financing Agricultural College in Tamil Nadu, was established at G. B. Nagar, Kalavai, Vellore district in the year 1999 and affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Coimbatore. Initially APAC was started with B.Sc (Agri.) programme with an intake of 35 students. Later it was increased to 70 and in the year 2008 -2009 it was increased to 120.

In the academic year 2003-2004, B.Sc (Horti.) programme was initiated with a strength of 30 students. Later on in the year 2010 -2011 the strength was increased to 50 and the current intake is 60 students. During the academic year 2008-09, Adhiparasakthi Institute of Agriculture was started to train the students for Diploma in agriculture with an intake strength of 50 and further increased to 70.

 From the academic year 2012-2013 two new P.G. Courses namely M.Sc., (Horti) in Vegetable Science and M.Sc., (Agri) in Plant pathology were started with an intake of 4 students in each course.

Age Limit

Candidates should not have completed the age of 21 years on the first day of July of the admission year (i.e. as of 01.07.2024). However, for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Caste -Arunthathiyars (SCA), and Scheduled Tribes (ST) there is NO AGE LIMIT. Five years of age relaxation will be given for differently abled candidates.

Course Objective

B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture involves study of agriculture sciences and use of modern scientific equipment and techniques in agriculture, land surveying, soil science, water resource management, animal and poultry management, basics of biotechnology etc. The objective of the course is to use these concepts to train students to improve agricultural productivity.

Admission Procedure

Sixty-five per cent of total seats in the affiliated colleges are filled by TNAU in general counseling. Thirty-five per cent of the total seats in the affiliated colleges are filled by the respective management. However, the candidate must have applied through TNAU online admission procedure. The nativity requirement  does not arise for these seats under the management quota.

State Government School Quota

Seven and a half percent (7.5%) of seats on a “preferential basis” are reserved for students from State government schools in admission to all undergraduate courses both in constituent and affiliated colleges of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. These students (academic and vocational stream) should have continuously studied from Class 6 to 12 in the State Government Schools of Tamil Nadu.

Mode of Selection

Online Counselling –  Selection process for general reservation candidates is done only through online
counseling for Government Quota seats.

Management Quota –   Admission for Management Quota will be done through College.

Fee for Affiliated Management Colleges

Candidates admitted through counseling and management quota in the Affiliated colleges have to pay an all-inclusive, annual tuition Fee of Rs. 50,000/- as fixed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Agricultural College and Research Institute (AC & RI), Vazhavachanur, Thiruvannamalai district is a new constituent college of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. It was started and functioning since 2014. It is located on Thiruvannamalai to Kallakuruchi State Highways at 22 km South of Thiruvannamalai town.

This residential campus is offering four years B.Sc., Agriculture /B.Sc., (Hons) Agriculture degree programme, with an allotted strength of 80 students per Batch. An area of 110 acres from the state seed farm Vazhavachanur has been allotted to this new college, which includes wet land and garden land ecosystems with bore well irrigation facility and canal irrigation system. Thenpennai river running south of the location is the main source of water for the irrigated crops.

This college is catering the three mandates of the university viz., education, research and extension activities. This college is equipped with all essential laboratories for under graduate degree programme viz., Soil Science, Agricultural Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Microbiology, Agronomy, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Crop Physiology, Seed Science and Technology, Environmental Science and Agricultural Engineering. Audio-visual lab, language lab and Computer lab with Wi-Fi facility is available in the campus.

ONLINE COUNSELING

Selection process for general reservation candidates is done only through online counseling.

During online counseling, the candidates will be allotted the Degree and College, based on their rank, community, and choice preferences made by them at the time of application filling, as per the procedure.

OFFLINE COUNSELING

Offline counseling will be conducted for Special reservations (Differently abled, Eminent Sportspersons, and Ex-servicemen), NRI, and Industrial Sponsorship quota. Offline Counseling for Differently abled, Eminent Sportspersons and Ex-servicemen will be conducted ahead of general counseling. Counseling for NRI and Industrial Quota will be conducted after one or two phases of general counseling.

State Government School Quota

Libraray

The college library is equipped with number of text and reference books (Print), e-books, e-journals and e-databases. Separate hostels are available for boys and girls, constructed thro’ NABARD funding. The infrastructural facilities for physical education namely stadium, 200 metre track, and Cricket pitch, Courts for Volley ball, Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-kho, Badminton and Ball Badminton, ground for Football and Indoor games like Gymnasium, Chess, Carom and Yoga hall were created.

Students Hostel Details

Students were accommodated in the newly constructed boys and girls hostels viz., “Thenpennai Boys Hostel” and “Gomuki Girls Hostel”, respectively during December 2017. The students hostels consisting of 49 spacious rooms (Boys) & 72 rooms (girls hostel).  students were accommodated comfortably with three persons per room for both the hostels.
